Position within the firm:
Details of any past law firms that you have worked for:
AZB & Partners (Mumbai), Trowers & Hamlins (Bahrain), DSK Legal (Mumbai), HSA Advocates (Mumbai)
Key practice areas:
I mainly work in the M&A (cross-border, domestic, public listed & unlisted pace), PE (domestic and cross border), Corporate & Commercial (cross-border and domestic)
Why you chose to focus in these areas:
I found company law and the areas of law associated with it, such as foreign investment laws, contracts law, labour laws and domain related laws such as aviation laws and insurance laws; very diverse and intellectually stimulating. There is always a satisfaction of learning something new. The cross-border aspects give a wider perspective to the practice of law.
Details of the matter that you have worked on in your career to date that you are most proud of, and why:
There are quite a few deals that I have done which could be termed as “first ever” transaction in India. After starting Acuity Law, I wanted to do the same quality of work that I have been previously doing. The opportunity came when Acuity Law represented KOSE Corporation Japan to enter into a joint venture with Elder Pharmaceuticals, India. Being a new and a small law firm it was very satisfying to represent KOSE Corporation Japan as this was the first ever luxury sector cosmetics joint venture in India.
The name of any more senior lawyers that you look up to or consider to be mentors:
AZB & Partners have played a key role in my evolution as a lawyer. I do look up to Zia Mody and Behram Vakil.
