Details of any past law firms that you have worked for:

After receiving the law degree in 2002, I joined DSK Legal at the Mumbai office and have been with the firm since then. I completed a secondment with Ashurst at their London office in their energy law practice team in 2008.

Key practice areas:

Energy and Infrastructure, Banking and Finance, Corporate and Commercial Laws, Mergers and Acquisitions

Why you chose to focus in these areas:

I have been doing a large amount of advisory and transactional work including private equity investments, joint ventures and the mergers and acquisitions, corporate funding, structured funding and project funding.

2008 onwards I have focused on the energy infrastructure space, as this sector overall has huge potential in context of the Indian scenario. The legal practice in this area requires specific focus and specialisation. With our firm’s expansion and diversification plan, I decided to focus on energy and infrastructure work.

Details of the matter that you have worked on in your career to date that you are most proud of, and why:

While I continue to advise clients on matters pertaining to funding (equity, debt and mezzanine), and mergers and acquisitions, I have been increasingly advising clients on variety of issues pertaining to concession, project debt, project equity, EPC and O&M in the energy and infrastructure space. In fact, the continued work in this segment was recognised when I received the “Best Project Finance Lawyer of the Year” award at the Legal Era Awards 2013.
