Earlier, I was a partner in Udwadia, Udeshi & Berjis. The practice headed by Mr. Berjis Desai merged into JSA in 2002.

Securities laws – ranging from IPOs to delisting, as also securities regulatory practice including contentious practice involving appeals from orders passed by SEBI in the Securities Appellate Tribunal and the Supreme Court of India.
Why you chose to focus in these areas:
This is an area of business law that closely deals with conduct of human mind, and involves an interplay of behavioural sciences like economics and law.
Details of the matter that you have worked on in your career to date that you are most proud of, and why:
I was fortunate to be involved in the entire life cycle of Centurion Bank, a private bank that was bailed out using private equity money, and then went on to acquire two other troubled banks, viz. Bank of Punjab and Lord Krishna Bank, and eventually merged into HDFC Bank. I was involved right from the conception to the eventual dissolution of the revived bank into one of India’s best commercial banks – all within a decade. This association gave me immense professional satisfaction and helped me deal with different situations, people and perspectives.
