A “very professional and reliable” full service firm in the capital, Chitale & Chitale Partners comes recommended in particular by peers for its work in competition and disputes matters. Extending its reach outside of the capital through a national network of affiliate offices, the firm counts many notable Indian and multinational private companies and government bodies among its
client list. Recent expansion in the disputes, IP and corporate teams has further stamped the firm’s authority on the market.

    PEOPLE & PRACTICES

Managing partner Suchitra Chitale heads the competition practice and is internationally recognised as a leader in the field. She advises clients on issues relating to domestic transactions as well as international deals with an Indian component, and has led her team in numerous matters before the Competition Commission of India and Competition Appellate
    Tribunal.

    CLIENTS

C&C’s team has represented the Escorts Group, Air Liquide, Concor, Johnson & Johnson and DLF in matters before the Commission. Other clients in contentious issues have included the Gas Authority of India, Bank of America, Universal Music India and Morgan Stanley at various levels of the courts. The team also acted on behalf of Hertz International in an ICC arbitration in
Singapore against Carzonrent, and provided contract advice and international arbitration in relation to the construction of civil works in the Mahakali Irrigation Project Stage II in Nepal. Elsewhere, C&C assisted Vodafone BV in obtaining FIPB clearance, negotiated the joint venture between GAIL and British Gas for the city gas distribution project in Mumbai, and assisted in the drafting of the Karnataka Road Fund Bill.
