Another post-2000 success story, Tuli & Co has carved out a niche for itself as a purveyor of “first rate” insurance and reinsurance advice. The firm was founded in association with Kennedys and through this connection it is able to access expertise from offices throughout Asia, Europe the Middle East and the Americas.

Neeraj Tuli is an internationally renowned name in insurance and reinsurance law with sources saying “it is hard to think of a better practitioner of this work in India.” That said, fellow partners Rajat Taimni and Celia Jenkins also shine in the insurance space for their work in contentious and non-contentious matters respectively.

Past engagements include counselling United India Insurance in an arbitration stemming from the first advance loss of profit insurance policy ever issued in India, widely reported to be the largest disputed insurance claim in the country. The $1 billion claim, which was made by Essar Oil, concerned a refinery it was building in Gujarat that was struck by a cyclone in 1998 before work was completed. The firm has been retained by insurers on claims arising out of the Commonwealth Games, and handled several matters before consumer commissions at national and state level. Clients included a number of reinsurers from London (including Lloyd’s syndicates), North America, Singapore and Australia.
