Offering a broad range of services to clients from bases in the country’s two main commercial centres, Phoenix Legal is a “very recognisable” brand with a “strong reputation” despite its short lifespan.

Saket Shukla is a co-founding partner of the firm and an internationally recognised insurance and reinsurance specialist, regularly advising offshore and domestic entities involved in areas such as life and non-life, insurance as well as re-insurers, and intermediaries. Shukla also participates in policy building measures by commenting on draft regulations issued by the regulator for stakeholder comments.

In the past, the firm has acted for Petronet LNG in relation to the refinancing of loans for $600 million for the construction of LNG regasification terminals at Dahej and Kochi. The firm also advised Accor and Interglobe on a $325 million deal, which involved establishing an investment fund for the development of hotels in India. Phoenix Legal also counted the government of India as a client when it acted for the Ministry of Rural Development on the implementation of the Provision for Urban Amenities in Rural Areas scheme. Other clients include Air Liquide, Astonfield Group, Citi, CRISIL, RamPrastha Builders, Trafigura BV, Tokai Rubber Industries Co and Visteon Corp.
