Mr Burjor Antia has been a prominent legal practitioner in India since 1959. He became partner of the firm in 1972 and specialises in the areas of banking law, commercial matters, conveyancing and arbitration. He acts for several well-known companies in India on matters related to banking, shipping and corporate laws. Clients include well-known banks, both Indian and foreign, and large corporate houses in the public and private sectors.
On invitation of the Center for International Legal Studies, Vienna, he prepared and submitted a thesis on the Indian banking system. In recognition of his contribution to scholarly activities and publications, the Center awarded him an Honorary Membership to the Association of the Fellows and Legal Scholars.
He was appointed by the Reserve Bank of India as a member of the committee for matters pertaining to large bank frauds and a report was submitted to the government of India for its necessary action.
Mr Antia won the Mahatma Gandhi gold medal and the Mahadev Desai gold medal in the elocution and debate competition held at Ahmedabad between all the colleges of Gujarat University.
He was a professor of law at Government Law College from 1966 to 1972.
Mr Antia has been a notary public of the Union of India since 1973. He has recently been appointed on the advisory board of the Bank of Tokyo.
