Homiar N Vakil is a partner in the firm’s litigation group and has over 25 years’ experience in civil as well as criminal litigations. He has been involved in several arbitrations as well as constitutional matters, writ petitions and litigations involving indirect taxes, public trust matters and public interest.
Since 1992, he has appeared for banks and financial institutions against Harshad Mehta and other notified persons in the security scam before the Special Court. He has represented several large public and private sectors, foreign banks and individuals in respect of litigation as well as property cases.
Mr Vakil specialises in the area of conveyancing, title investigation, drafting contracts, drafting international banking documents, development agreements for various projects, cooperative housing societies, etc.
He is a member of the law review, reforms and rationalisation committee of Indian Merchant Chambers in Mumbai, and a trustee in various public charitable trusts.
He qualified as an advocate from the University of Mumbai in 1981; as a solicitor from the Incorporated Law Society in Mumbai in 1984; and as a solicitor in England in 1986.
