Mrs Jagtiani specialises in matters of taxation and appears at the ITAT, High Courts, Supreme Court, Income-tax Settlement Commission and also practises inheritance laws, succession, property matters, matrimonial law and arbitration.
A prominent figure in the legal world, Mrs Jagtiani was the chairperson of the law and representations committee of The Chamber of Income Tax Consultants from 2005-2006, during which she co-authored a prebudget memorandum presented by the chamber to the Union Finance Ministry. She has also been a member of the managing committee of the Chamber of Tax Consultants.
Mrs Jagtiani is a regular speaker at seminars. She was the keynote speaker at a seminar on property law organised by Khaleej Times in Dubai. More recently, she has addressed the Society of Indian Law Firms (Mumbai) on professional ethics and an international conference organised by LAW ASIA on Taxation of International Transactions.
Mrs Jagtiani is a champion of the cause of women’s rights in India and over the years has made several contributions to related causes. In 1996, she represented India at an international seminar held in Israel on “The Empowerment of Women”. Since then she has served as the chairperson of the legal cell of the ladies wing of the Indian Merchants Chamber. She has given numerous speeches at the IMC ladies wing and the FICCI ladies wing regarding the position of women with regard to property and succession, as laid out by Indian laws.
